Pamphlet Series
By Tim Price
The purpose of this pamphlet series is to look at a variety of topics from the perspective of being resident aliens or ambassadors, [i.e. not belonging]. This is in direct contrast to the common aggregate of society approach [i.e. belonging], employed by most Evangelical, Fundamentalist or even Charismatic types. What we do comes out of who we think we are as followers of Christ. We need to become integrated thinkers that live out of one reality, who we are: citizens of another Kingdom!
The modern church has been bobbling around the topic of identity for the last few decades. So far I haven’t come across a single book that dealt with, who we are not. This detail, who we are not, is the defining point in articulating Kingdom Citizenship. If the church can come to this revelation, it will totally change the way we approach living in this world.
In the book, The Diluted Church, I could only develop Kingdom Citizenship by way of introducing and giving a few points that we can take up as a means of living as an alternative in the world. I see the need to develop this idea further in specific aspects. A pamphlet series is the perfect way to nail down very practical applications. Maybe these will result in another book that will buttress, The Diluted Church.
Kingdom Citizenship will be publishing new pamphlet every so often. The pamphlets will be between 16-32 pages each. You can download a PDF in long page form or you can order an actual pamphlet in singles or multiples for $2.50 each.
Note: In the long form PDF format you can pass the material around, make as many copies as you see fit. You can use them for House Church studies, group discussion materials or whatever. My only requirement is that www.kingdomcitizenship.org would not conveniently be expunged or obscured when copying.
Vol. 1 The Kingdom Of God Amongst The Kingdoms Of Men, What Is Our True Identity?
This pamphlet is a simplified form of my book: The Diluted Church. It boils down the book to discuss the essence of who we really are and what that means to every day life. This message was presented to the 5th annual Searching Together conference in Taylor Falls, MN in July of 2004. This work is 27 pages.
***CD's of this message can be obtained***
Vol. 2 I Pledge Allegiance...NOT!
This pamphlet deals with another detail that is hot today: The Pledge. Is this involvement good or is this another one of the worlds' pagan religious practices have we accepted and incorporated into our everyday life? If the atheists want to get rid of aspects of the pledge and religious conservatives are hell bent on it, what is the alternative? We need to take a serious look at this point again.
Vol. 3 The Gospel Of Peace:
An Alternative To The Familiar Discussions Of War And Peace
Given the war in Iraq, the discussion of war and peace is very current. Regardless of your take, this pamphlet will challenge and perhaps encourage you. How do we be an alternative if everybody is either talking war or peace?
Vol. 4 Creationism:
The Apologetic of Belonging to the Kingdoms of Men
Some Proposed Ideas For Further Pamphlets:
- A Lack of sobriety specified under other names: Lust, Greed, Over Eating, Narcissism, Blaming others
- Theology, are we building on rock or sand?
- Needs Basing
- A practical analysis of the way we approach life and ministry
- Real Spiritual Leaders
- The Priesthood of every Believer
- Reaching Globally while not dropping out Locally:
- The connection between Missions and Home Fellowships
- Lust, PMS and Self-Control: Where Issues between the Genders Collide
- Music: is it "encouragement" is it many times "spiritual" doping
- Eschatology: a view to the future or an obsession with having to "know"
- Dependent, Independent, Interdependent: A balance of Faith
- Is God articulate in His universe or does a completed Book muzzle Him?
- The Consequences of our "Beliefs"
- Are We Sure About Our Understandings
- What is worship, really?
- What is ministry, really?
- What is need, really?
As you can see I there quite a list of things write about when it comes to being an alternative and staying practical about being the Kingdom of God. Maybe you see the need for other specific areas to be addressed. Be my guest! If you are interested I would like to discuss it with you first. (contact form link)
